Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast on Wednesday 5/24
If you have done any volunteering this year for either the PTA or the school, then you are invited to be celebrated at the breakfast hosted by the staff on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 8:30 in the media center. Please RSVP to your child’s teacher so that the staff can ensure that there is enough food.
Fall Fling Update
We will again have a Fall Fling. (Date….TBD). But the planning for it has already begun.
It is very costly for the PTA to host a Fling.
#1. We have to pay close to $1,000 to reserve the school and grounds for our use. We have to pay the same fee as any other outside organization.
#2. Our inflatables cost $1,000 to rent.
#3. Carnival and auction expenses can run upwards of $800.
#4. We also make a $100 donation to the fire department for the Fire Safety House.
#5. The PTA purchases food for our building service workers and the police/fire fighters.
#6. The PTA also gives free tickets to the administation to pass out to those families in need.
Parent Ruth Castillo will oversee a Sponsorship Committee to try to obtain monetary donations from corporations. The money is out there. Many corporations put aside money earmarked for charitable giving. Ruth tried to obtain these sponsorships last fall, but unfortunately the corporations had already given their allotted amount for the year. She was told to start trying in the spring/summer.
This is where we need YOU!. Under the direction of Ruth, you will reach out to various businesses to solicit funds. This can be done at home at your leisure. You can volunteer one hour or you can volunteer ten. Any assistance that you can offer will be appreciated.
To find out more, please email Ruth: Vruth31@gmail.com.
