French-American Exchange GoFundMe for GMS

Would you like to help start a French-American exchange between French Immersion students at Gaithersburg Middle School and French students from a middle school in the Paris area? This French-American exchange is going to be an invaluable addition to our already great French Immersion program at GMS, and we know that this is something that YOU value as parents of French Immersion students.

We are students from the French Immersion program at Gaithersburg Middle School (GMS). In March 2017, we will be hosting a group of students and teachers from College Notre-Dame, a middle school in Issy-les-Moulineaux, a suburb of Paris. We are planning to visit them in the fall of 2017.

Today, our families are launching a Go Fund Me campaign to raise funds to provide a memorable American cultural experience to our French counterparts, and foster a long-lasting connection between the two school communities. We hope that this French-American exchange will be the first of many, and will provide the starting blocks for yearly exchanges between French students and future GMS French Immersion students.  As you know, learning French is great, but nothing compares to the great experiences that come with a foreign exchange program!

Will you help us? We need funds to cover many expenses that Gaithersburg Middle School cannot pay for, including social events, field trips, and transportation costs. Even a few dollars would make a difference, especially if you can spread the word at this time of the year among your relatives, friends and neighbors, and any member of the French Immersion community you know.

Please donate to our campaing by visiting our Go Fund Me page at: www.gofundme.com/frenchexchange

Please also post the Go Fund Me link on your Facebook page and other social media accounts, and repeat a couple of times during the ten days of the campaign so that it is at the top of the news feeds.  Here is a simple message you can post with the link:

Have you ever been or ever wanted to be a Foreign Exchange student?  Do you believe in fostering cooperation between countries through lasting friendships? Nothing compares to the great experiences that come with participating in a foreign exchange program! Please help our French Exchange program by donating to our Go Fund Me campaign.

Let’s get together to provide a great American experience to French students, and ensure a lasting bond between the French Immersion community in Montgomery County and French students!

Merci de tout coeur pour votre générosité ! Heartfelt thanks for your generosity!
