Fun with Food

Learn a multitude of fun ways to manipulate a potato that don’t involve eating it. From potato art to potatoes as a battery, you’ll play mad scientist all morning long!

MSDE Special Education Parent Involvement Survey

Parents/guardians o’f children receiving special education and related services should have received by mail the Maryland Special Education Parent Involvement Survey from the Maryland State Department of Education. Please fill out the survey and return it in the postage paid envelope or complete it online at http://www.mdparentsurvey.com. The survey results will help guide the state’s efforts to improve special education and related services in public schools. The deadline for completing the survey is Monday, May 1.

Yang Academy Summer Camp Registration

The Yang Academy Summer Camps will take place August 7-18, 2017.  

Camp will be 9 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday, at 111 Central Ave. Gaithersburg, MD 20878.

Bruce Kapel Performance at the French Embassy

The Embassy of France in Washington D.C. will be hosting the world-renowned musician, singer, and choreographer Brice Kapel this March 29th and 30th for three kid-oriented interactive concerts. Maryvale students are invited. Brice will mostly sing in French, and so this concert is of particular interest to students learning French, however it is open to all! 

The concert is free for all students and their chaperones and teachers. There are 200 places available for each concert and will be reserved on a first come, first served basis. There will be a 10am and 12pm concert on March 29th and a 10am concert on March 30th, each concert lasting one hour. Aid Needed for Student’s Family

A former Maryvale student lost his home and all of his family’s belongings in a house fire this past weekend. He is a current Kindergartner at Meadow Hall ES. Ms. Platt (Kemp) is collecting donations to purchase gift cards for the family. If you would like to contribute please put your donation in her mailbox. Any amount is greatly appreciated. Gaithersburg MS International Night on 2/24

GMS will host its International Night on Friday, February 24th, from 6:30 to 9 pm. GMS is located at 2 Teachers’ Way, Gaithersburg, MD 20877. The event is free. 

Gaithersburg MS International Exchange Program

The GMS FI program is organizing an international exchange program with a middle school near Paris. They will host 13 students for 8 days this spring and  are raising funds to support activities while they are here. They hope that this first French Exchange will become an annual tradition at GMS, and that forging this lasting bond with French students will benefit all the future GMS FI students who are now at Maryvale.
